1972 Norman High 45th Reunion

Event Details

We have a number of fun activities planned for our 45th Reunion.  The best part is,  there is no cost to attend the reunion events with the exception of the golf tournament.   Each person will be responsible for purchasing their own food and drink, so no additional fees for other events will be collected.  Of course, donations for our 50th reunion will always be welcome.

On Friday, June 9 our first event will be on the patio at Sooner Legends.  The patio has inside and outside areas and can accommodate around 150 people (non-smoking).  Sooner Legends is a hotel, restaurant and bar located at the corner of SW 24th and Lindsey.  With the current construction on Lindsey, that exit is currently closed.  However, there is easy access by taking either Highway 9 or Main Street to 24th.  Our selection of this location also helps support a business during the long term construction in this area that has caused a number of businesses on Lindsey Street to close.  The event will start at 6:30 p.m.  Ronnie Kaye, who was the voice of KOMA radio when we were growing up, will provide entertainment.  The patio is connected to the bar where smoking is allowed as well as other normal bar activities.  The restaurant serves bbq, mexican etc and food will be available for purchase.  The hotel is also offering us 20 sleeping rooms at an $89 rate for two people.  Add'l people are $5 extra.  These are offered on a first come/first serve basis.  Plenty of parking is available. http://www.soonerlegends.com/

On Saturday morning there will be a golf tournament for those interested.  Debbie Barnett will be coordinating this event and will set up tee times starting at 9 a.m. based on the number of rsvps we receive.  Cost is $42.42 per person due at time of event.  Registration is above,  but please e-mail Debbie separately at debbiebg@cox.net so she can get a count.  These will be set up as just regular four-person groups vs. a scramble. If you have a group already, please let Debbie know.

The main event is Saturday June 10 and will be a picnic at Andrews Park from 11:30-2:30.  This again is bring your own food and drink, lawn chairs, blankets etc.  We have reserved the amphitheater and pavillion so there is seating available as well.  For this event, we plan to open it up for other classes to attend so hopefully we will have a good turnout of several different class groups. We are trying to coordinate a couple of food trucks so stay tuned!

Saturday evening may be a good opportunity for you to spend a little time with others and make your own plans.  However, for those who don't have the time for additional planning or the desire to make those types of plans, we will have reserved space at Hollywood Corners.  You may remember this as the old gas station at the corner of Porter and Franklin.  This area has been renovated into a deli and outdoor musical stage. There are plenty of picnic tables outside and seating inside at the deli.  They also offer a full bar. Parking is limited so you may want to carpool or Uber.  Toby Keith actually lives down the road and helped turn this into the up and coming location it is.  He also shows up occassionally (we missed him at the car show but he was there later in the evening).  They have an event almost every evening with live bands, open mic, biker nights, car shows etc. so does provide a nice little venue for entertainment. http://newsok.com/article/5424985, https://www.facebook.com/HollywoodC0rner/

Please register for each event you plan to attend so we can get a count.  Also, there are still a number of missing classmates.  If you have any information regarding anyone on the list, please let us know and be sure to share the information with others as well.  We look forward to a great weekend!
